If you flip through all of Chanel's spring 2015 campaign images starring Gisele Bündchen, you notice something kind of strange: She's not wearing any shoes. The images, shot by Karl Lagerfeld and posted on the brand's site yesterday, are beautiful (and Gisele's hair, my eternal beauty inspiration, looked perfect as usual). The casual vibe that comes with being barefoot feels right for the unbuttoned moment we've been experiencing in fashion, though I'm surprised by such a choice—it's well known that accessories like bags and shoes are where brands make money, not apparel, so excluding them from your ads is unusual. And for the record, the shoeless-ness is not a holdover from Chanel's biggest spring runway moment. The models in the now-legendary feminist rally were indeed covered up. Did you notice right away that she wasn't wearing shoes? Surprised?
